The Evidence of Things Believed In - Tonight 7 pm

(Guess which is me?)

Tonight’s service message delves deep into the heart of personal conviction and understanding. At the heart of this evening's gathering, we will reflect upon the strength of our convictions and the evidence of those beliefs in our actions and daily lives.

We will explore the profound inquiries posed by thinkers like Arthur Schopenhauer and consider the challenge of checking the palpable evidence of our beliefs in how we conduct ourselves through life’s peaks and troughs.

The centerpiece of the message will be the hypothetical scenario of articulating our beliefs in a mere fifteen minutes on national television. This exercise aims to clarify what we hold to be true, allowing us to align our lives more closely with these truths.

Rev. Russ Legear has kindly provided meditation music to aid us in our contemplation, while freshly baked bread, tea, and cookies will nourish us as we partake in the comforting embrace of community. The goal is to emerge with a clearer understanding of our convictions and to embrace the role of living out these truths authentically, serving as beacons to others by our example.

I am excited to share my current beliefs, a perspective born from a lifelong journey of introspection and discovery. It is an understanding that continues to evolve, influenced by myriad factors including the challenges and joys of my journey, the steadfastness of my meditation practice, and the ever-changing landscape of life itself.

I'll touch upon the nature of existence, the oneness that binds us, and the implications of our inherited creativity and power.

Everyone in the community is invited to join us for this evening of introspection, connection, and renewal. Come with an open heart and a curious mind, ready to partake in the challenge to develop clarity around your deepest held truths.

Tonight, 7 m, at the Center.

Dr. Edward Viljoen at Wednesday Evening - Recovering from Betrayal: Lessons from Holy Wednesday

Betrayal can leave us reeling, lost in a sea of shattered trust and emotional turmoil. Yet, within the stories we've inherited, there are paths forward, lessons on resilience, and recovery that resonate through time. Holy Wednesday, often overshadowed by the more prominent days of Holy Week, offers profound insights into the nature of betrayal and the steps toward healing. Dr. Edward will talk about the story of betrayal, understanding its impact on our peace, and the steps we may take to heal from it. The Story of Betrayal Holy Wednesday marks a pivotal moment in the Easter narrative—the day Judas Iscariot chose to betray Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. This act wasn't a mere transaction; it was a breach of deep, personal trust. Judas, one of the twelve disciples, had walked alongside Jesus, sharing in the journey, the teachings, and the miracles. His betrayal set in motion the events leading to the crucifixion, a cornerstone of the Easter story. Understanding the Impact B...
