How To Be an Instrument for Peace - Wednesdays in July 2026

Peace rarely arrives as a single grand event. More my be built from small choices we make in how we listen, how we speak, and how we hold space for one another. This July, five voices from our community offer their own way into that practice, each bringing a different instrument to the symphony.

We open the month with Discovering Your Peaceful Voice on July 1, with Dr. Edward Viljoen. Some obstacles to peaceful communication hide in plain sight, disguised as ordinary habits. This talk traces one path toward noticing them, and toward the voice that waits underneath.

On July 8, Rev. Siota Belle leads us into Drumming To a Different Beat. There's a rhythm to peace that doesn't always match the pace the world moves at. This gathering explores what it means to find our own tempo, and to trust it even when it differs from the beat around us.

July 15 brings Practicing Your Peace with Rev. Russ Legear. Peace as an idea can sound lovely. Peace as a daily practice asks something more of us. This talk turns toward the practical, the repeated, the small acts that build a peaceful life one day at a time.

On July 22, Peggy Weber, RScP, shares Don't Let Perfect Be the Enemy of Good. The search for the ideal response, the ideal moment, the ideal version of ourselves can quietly stand in the way of showing up at all. This talk invites a gentler standard, one where good and present can be enough.

We close the month on July 29 with Joining the Symphony of Life, presented by Tamarya Hulme, RScP. Each of us plays a part in something larger, and peace often depends on how well we listen to the parts around us. This talk considers what it means to add our note to that larger music, in harmony rather than alone.

Five speakers, five instruments, one shared song. We hope you'll join us this July as we explore, together, what it means to be an instrument for peace.

"Spirit Is An Artist" - Wednesday Evening Service with Rev. Russ

Every breath we take, every new friend we make; the tallest snowy mountaintop to the darkest depths of the sea--all is an act of creation. In fact, because Spirit is all there is, that means that we, too, are endlessly creating. Whether we know it or not.  In tonight's Wednesday Evening Service, we continue our exploration of the Ten Core Concepts of the Science of Mind and Spirit with the third--the creative nature of Spirit. We'll share in spiritual exercises designed to grow your awareness of your creative nature so you can tap into it to paint the life of your dreams. And all will be wrapped in an atmosphere of music, freshly baked bread, and loving community.  See you soon! -Russ

"Oneness" - Wednesday Evening Service with Rev. Russ

#1 - Oneness Spirit (whatever we choose to call the infinite “something”) is the source of all that is, and Spirit is all that is. Everything is made of Spirit and is a unique expression of The Infinite. What is Oneness? We hear this word quite a bit at the Center, but what does it really mean, and how is it useful in my life?  These are just some of the questions we will answer in tonight's Wednesday Evening Service as we embark upon our journey exploring the ten core concepts of the Science of Mind and Spirit. Join us at 7pm for music, freshly baked bread and tea, and an inviting community where we will learn all about Oneness.  See you soon! -Russ

"Living On a Prayer" - Wednesday Evening Service with Rev. Russ

Whether he knew it or not, Bon Jovi was affirming a powerful prayer in his iconic song, "Living On a Prayer." One of the lyrics goes like this: We've got to hold on to what we've got Cause it doesn't make a difference If we make it or not We've got each other and that's a lot For love - well give it a shot   Whooah, we're half way there Livin on a prayer Take my hand and we'll make it - I swear Livin on a prayer Tonight in our continuing series exploring the ten core concepts of the Science of Mind and Spirit, we will explore prayer--known as Spiritual Mind Treatment in the Science of Mind--and how we can use it to shift our mind from a focus on all that appears wrong, toward a focus on life that is rooted in compassion, love, and possibility.  See at the Center at 7pm! -Russ
